RTA implements new speed limits on five major roads in Dubai
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in coordination with the Dubai Police General Command, began implementing revised maximum speed limits on five major roads in the emirate today (Sunday). The changes include higher limits on three roads and lower limits on two others, in both directions, with speed cameras recalibrated accordingly. The maximum speed limits have been increased on the following roads:- Al Asayel Street: from 60 to 80 km/h, between Oud Metha Street and Meydan Street.- Al Mustaqbal Street: from 60 to 70 km/h, between Sheikh Rashid Street and Meydan Street.- Latifa Bint Hamdan Street: from 60 to 70 km/h, between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.Meanwhile, the maximum speed limits have been reduced on:- Al Rebat Street: from 100 to 90 km/h, between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.- Sheikh Sabah bin Ahmed Al-Sabah Street: from 80 to 70 km/h, between 2nd of December Street and Khalid bin Waleed Street. The RTA said the adjustments comply with engineering standards set out in technical manuals on geometric design and speed management. In particular, the authority follows the Dubai Speed Management Manual, which draws on the latest international best practices. The changes form part of ongoing periodic reviews of speed limits and operational efficiency on major roads across Dubai. They also coincide with development projects and traffic improvements being carried out by the RTA on several key routes. The revised limits follow the updated technical specifications in the Speed Management Manual, issued in 2026. They were introduced after a comprehensive engineering and technical study conducted over the past few months in coordination with an international consultant. The study aimed to improve traffic flow and road safety while aligning speed limits with each road’s characteristics and traffic conditions.
