Doctor in the dock as medical error claim unfolds in Sharjah
A foreigner filed a complaint with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in which he accused an Arab doctor of committing a medical error, which caused him complications and infections that required him to undergo subsequent surgeries.The complainant explained that his complaint was based on a report issued by MoHAP’s specialized medical committee, which indicated that there was a medical error that affected his health condition.The case was referred to Sharjah Misdemeanor Court, which confronted the accused with the charges against him, but he denied them.The accused pleaded that the incident dated back to several years ago and that he provided treatment in accordance with the established medical procedures, while his lawyer requested the court to acquit him and submitted a bail request.After reviewing the case file and listened to the statements of both parties, the court decided to postpone the hearing of the case to a later session to pronounce the verdict.
